Hypnobabies is a complete childbirth education course that also teaches Gerald Kein’s famous Painless Childbirth techniques to Hypnobabies mothers so that they can enter hypnosis, deepen it themselves and remain mobile during labor, completely comfortable at all times. Including a very comprehensive childbirth education curriculum ensures that our Hypno-moms remain deeply committed to their Hypnobabies training, since they need not go anywhere else for childbirth education. Our Hypnobabies have no drugs in their systems when they are born, and are able to nurse, breathe well and interact with their happy parents immediately.

We know that all change comes from within, and that hypnosis is a very powerful tool for creating new belief systems and powerful physical effects, so we simply help women and their partners learn to empower themselves in this wonderful way for their baby’s birth. It works beautifully and is so successful that we are now offering Hypnobabies Classes across the USA, and our Hypnobabies Home Study Course.

Amy offers doula services for her Hypnobabies clients, private and group Hypnobabies Training, speaking, workshops, retreats, and therapy for the open minds and hearts of all ages.

Hypnosis and Guided Imagery have been used successfully to help people deal with pain, nausea, fear of needles, fear, guilt, anxiety and other issues surrounding cancer diagnosis and treatment.

I have a doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy. As part of my degree program, I studied the mind-body techniques that are successfully being used to compliment cancer treatment. I primarily studied the work of Dr. O. Carl Simonton, MD, Gerald Kein, CHt. and Stephen Parkhill, CHt

I make no guarantees to anyone about recovery and fully expect you to continue to follow the advice of your medical doctor. I simply assist you in using techniques that have been show to:

Reduce nausea

Improve self-management of pain

Increase restful sleep

Increase positive mental attitude and expectancy for future

Support immune functioning and medical therapies

The protocol includes weekly sessions for a minimum of 12 weeks. Most clients choose quarterly visits thereafter to maintain a healthy mental focus. There is also “homework” in between sessions which mostly amounts to listening to recordings, but may include journaling or other self-work. Some clients negotiate changes in this protocol depending on their condition and progress (requires agreement by therapist). Clients report it is a pleasant experience for them and something to look forward to.

The therapies that are relevant to the cancer patient are:

Pain Management using Hypnosis and Guided Imagery

Relaxation Therapy and Breath Control Training

Release of Anger, Sadness, Fear, Guilt & Anxiety

Avoidance of Depression with Focused Thinking Techniques

Abatement of Nausea with Hypnosis and Anchoring Techniques

Overcoming Insomnia- Hypnosis & Relaxation Techniques

Overcoming Fear of Needles with Hypnosis and Guided Imagery.

Treatment Effectiveness & Immune System Support -Guided Imagery

Healthy Behavioral Changes through Hypnosis

Appetite and Enjoying Food Enhancement through Hypnosis.

Structured Goal Setting for Planning for Life Beyond Treatment

Note that in all of the above therapies, one-on-one guidance is supplemented with recordings for self-work and frequent (often daily) practice and relaxation.

These therapies have been developed and/or used by doctors and cancer treatment centers effectively to boost quality of life and support treatment effectiveness. Additionally, I can recommend books and other information relevant to your situation that may help you stay on a positive track.

Fibromyalgia {pronounced feye-bro-my-AL-juh} is a collection of symptoms characterized by muscle pain, stiffness and fatigue. It is called a syndrome, raher than a disease, because there is no specific diagnositic test that confirms or denies its existence. There is no known cause or cure. It is not life threatening, but it redefines the sufferer’s quality of life.
Fibromyalgia is a disautonomic illness, a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. The unconscious mind can reprogram it to work properly.
Recent research confirms that a multidisciplinary approach to treating FMS provides the greatest releaf of symptoms and the best prognosis. One study published in the Journal of Rheumatology, concluded that hypnotherapy was effective in relieving the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

Hypnotherapy Protocol
Initial protocol starts with 13 sessions. The first 3 sessions deal only with pain and sleep and need to be one week apart. Sessions 4—13 continue the whole person approach, addressing nutrition, exercise, anxiety, & all the bodily functions & systems that are affected in order to integrate the healthy, functioning whole. Sessions 4-13 are 2 weeks apart, but never more than two weeks.

Every night during the 12 weeks of hypnotherapy, the client listens to a CD/Mp3 while falling asleep.

Many clients choose to thereafter have a “booster session” every 3 to 6 months.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Hypnotherapy in conjunction with traditional treatments has and can produce remarkable results in symptom alleviation. It is very important to treat this illness because it causes limited mobility, deccreased quality of life and absence from work.

IBS is defined by its symptoms, as it is a chronic functional disorder of the gastrointestinal tract. Hypnotherapy for IBS involves a combination of conscious and subconscious re-education.

Hypnotic Protocol
The Hypnotic protocol is 6 to 10 sessions. The first session will be approximately 2 hours. All remaining sessions will be 1 hour. Sessions need to be routine, spaced every two weeks. Each client will be given a recording to listen to nightly. Other “homework” is included, such as a log to complete.

Hypnotic Therapy Theory
IBS is a dysautonomic illness, a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. Through hypnosis the unconscious mind can be used to relaign the autonomic nervous system of the body to function normally again.
More on IBS

IBS symptoms are abdominal pain, gas, spasms, altered bowel movements, bloating, and constipation or diarrhea. Clients may have only one or all of these symptoms, and any combination may exists.
If these symptoms are experienced for a 12 week period over the course of one year, IBS may be diagnosed. There is no inflammation of the bowel in IBS. There are actually 3 types of IBS, depending on the predominant symptom: diarrhea predominant IBS, constipation predominant IBS and alternating IBS.

Patients with IBS have different severity of their symptoms:

70% have “mild” symptoms

25% have “moderate” symptoms

5% have “severe”, even disabling symptoms

Before you Begin
There is yet not a specific, definitive medical test for IBS. Instead, other diseases must be ruled out first. Please see your medical doctor to rule out IBD, Ulcerative Colitis, lactose Intolerance, Celiac Disease, Dumping Syndrome, Gallbladder Disease or Crohn’s Disease.

Dr. Elliott is certified in Hypnotherapy for IBS by the Alabama Hypnotherapy Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Hypnotherapy for the pre-conception and conception process are provided, regardless of the method of conception. I have experience with assisted reproductive techniques (ART).

Couples struggling to conceive may seek hypnotherapy for a variety of reasons:

To reduce stress during this “trying” time

To explore their fears, beliefs or attitudes that may be roadblocks to their conception

To gain a mind-body balance to use during the “conscious conception” process and use this to call on inner resources that have yet been untapped

Because they have been given no answers – their fertility is “unexplained” and they want to look within.

Hypnotherapy for fertility is typically a couples process, but either partner may attend alone if desired. The number of sessions will vary based on the needs of the client/couple, and will be agreed to with the hypnotherapist. Recordings and other “work” to do at home will be assigned.

Work in this area is inspired by the work of Lynsi Eastburn, BCH, Niravi B.

Hypnosis has proven to be one of the most effective means of bringing about deep, permanent changes. Hypnosis is a SAFE, natural response which allows you greater personal control. Your subconscious mind is powerful! Hypnosis is using your mind-body connection. Guided Imagery and Vizualization techniques closely relate to hypnosis.

History And Origins:
Use of hypnosis or trance healing began thousands of years ago. Hypnosis was popularized in the 19th century by physician Charles Mesmer and was used extensively as a surgical anesthetic until ether and chloroform were introduced in 1846 and 1847 (respectively). It was also used by field doctors in the American Civil War in place of chemical anesthetics. It is still in use today when patients have life-threatening allergies or other contraindications for chemical anesthetics.

A new application for hypnosis grew out of WWII, when it was used for the treatment of soldiers with “shell shock.” In the psychotherapy arena, Freud also made extensive use of hypnosis in his early career. This was the origin of the “therapist’s couch.”

In 1958, the American Medical Association officially accepted hypnosis when used by a qualified professional.

Research and use of this powerful technique continues today in many medical and psychological areas.
