Fibromyalgia Hypnotherapy

Fibromyalgia {pronounced feye-bro-my-AL-juh} is a collection of symptoms characterized by muscle pain, stiffness and fatigue.  It is called a syndrome, raher than a disease, because there is no specific diagnositic test that confirms or denies its existence.  There is no known cause or cure. It is not life threatening, but it redefines the sufferer’s quality of life.
Fibromyalgia is a disautonomic illness, a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system.  The unconscious mind can reprogram it to work properly.
Recent research confirms that a multidisciplinary approach to treating FMS provides the greatest releaf of symptoms and the best prognosis.  One study published in the Journal of Rheumatology, concluded that hypnotherapy was effective in relieving the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

Hypnotherapy Protocol
Initial protocol starts with 13 sessions. The first 3 sessions deal only with pain and sleep and need to be one week apart. Sessions 4—13 continue the whole person approach, addressing nutrition, exercise, anxiety, & all the bodily functions & systems that are affected in order to integrate the healthy, functioning whole. Sessions 4-13 are 2 weeks apart, but never more than two weeks.

Every night during the 12 weeks of hypnotherapy, the client listens to a CD/Mp3 while falling asleep.

Many clients choose to thereafter have a “booster session” every 3 to 6 months.

Dr. Elliott is certified in Hypnotherapy for Fibromyalgia from the Alabama Hypnotherapy Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
